One Earth, One Vision: Resorts World Manila supports Earth Day Run 2016

In line with its commitment to promote environmental sustainability and employee wellness, Resorts World Manila (RWM) reinforced its support for the National Geographic Channel’s (NGC) Earth Day Run 2016, serving as venue sponsor for the event’s media launch held recently at Passion restaurant.
The Earth Day Run 2016, scheduled to take place on April 17, will be happening simultaneously for the first time in five cities across the region: Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tai Chung, and Manila—with the Manila leg expecting 20,000 runners to participate in a race course that spans Bonifacio Global City and McKinley West. NGC, together with its partners, aims to create more awareness on the benefits of climate change solution and watershed management, among others.
For its part, RWM continues to find innovative ways to protect the environment through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs such as “Live and Love Green”. This monthly initiative is done in partnership with the Tzu Chi Foundation, which transforms recyclable materials like PET bottles and newspapers into new materials such as shirts and blankets to be used in disaster relief drives, while also raising money to fund other advocacy programs of the foundation.
RWM is also aligned with NGC in promoting fitness and wellness in the workplace. An employee-initiated running group called “Eat N Run” Club holds weekly runs for its growing number of members and has already participated in several organized runs since its inception early last year.
“NGC’s Earth Day Run 2016 is the perfect activity for us to support as it conforms to RWM’s advocacy of promoting environmental sustainability while espousing a culture of wellness,” said Stephen Reilly, Chief Operating Officer, RWM. “As an avid runner myself, I look forward to participating this year with our own running group, just as we did last year, in the spirit of fun, good health, and for a very good cause.”
The NGC Earth Day Run 2016 expects to register 20,000 runners this year, with slots for 5K, 10K, 21K, and 42K open via online registration through the regional site www.natgeoearthdayrun.com. On-site registration for the Manila leg will be open until March 31 at the ground floor of SM Aura Premier in BGC.
