Newport World Resorts explores Chinese traditions for National Dim Sum Month
September 29, 2026
The country’s premier leisure and entertainment destination presents two regional expressions of Chinese cooking for National Dim Sum Month this September. Happy 8 draws from Cantonese heritage, and Hua Yuan Brasserie Chinoise at Hilton Manila Newport World Resorts brings its contemporary Shanghainese identity to the occasion. Together, their menus show how a shared dining tradition takes on distinct character across regions.
Dim sum traces its roots to the teahouses of southern China, where small portions were served with tea and shared around the table. Its name is often translated as “touch the heart,” fitting a meal defined by variety and the pleasure of eating together. In the Philippines, where Chinese culinary traditions have long entered everyday dining, the celebration also recognizes the craft behind a meal familiar to generations of diners. At Happy 8, the Eat All You Can Dim Sum brings the restaurant’s authentic Chinese cuisine for PHP 1,350 nett per person until September 30. Lunch is served from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by dinner from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Each meal includes one mooncake in Ube Salted Egg Yolk or Red Bean Egg Yolk, connecting the experience with the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Among the selections are Black Truffle Har Gow filled with prawn and aromatic truffle, Hong Kong-Style Wonton served in a clear broth with dried purple seaweed, and Deep-Fried Egg Custard Sesame Balls with crisp shells and sweet centers. Steamed Chicken Feet in black bean glaze and Wok-Fried Roasted Pork Belly in Dark Soy Sauce bring heartier flavors to the spread. The Velvet Violet, made with lychee, lemonade, and butterfly pea perfectly pairs the flowing dim sum to the celebration and is available for PHP 280 nett until October 31. Happy 8 is located on the third floor of Newport Club at Newport World Resorts. For reservations, email happy8@newportworldresorts.com or call 02 7908 8009 or 0917 878 8856.
Hua Yuan Brasserie Chinoise, located on the second floor of Hilton Manila Newport World Resorts, presents its Yum Cha selection for PHP 1,288++. Known for contemporary Shanghainese cooking, the restaurant extends the experience beyond familiar dumplings through varied preparations and textures.
Crispy Beancurd and Satay Sauce Taro Tofu open the selection, followed by Golden Garlic Steamed Chicken. Red Bean Milk Bun adds a sweet note, while Steamed Chicken Celery Dumpling returns to the hand-shaped parcels associated with yum cha. Reservations may be made through https://sevn.ly/xOpkThQe.
